Lithium battery high acceleration shock test standard
date:2022-03-18 popularity:103 Collection

According to paragraph 38.3 of the third part of the "United Nations Manual of Tests and Standards for the Transport of Dangerous Goods" specially formulated by the United Nations, that is, lithium batteries must undergo high simulation, high and low temperature cycles, vibration tests, shock tests, 55 external Short circuit, impact test, overcharge test, forced discharge test to ensure the safety of lithium batteries during transportation. If the device does not have a lithium battery installed, it must pass the 1.2m free fall test. Product range; standard for high acceleration shock test of lithium battery:

1. Various power lithium secondary batteries (such as batteries for power vehicles, batteries for electric road vehicles, batteries for power tools, batteries for hybrid vehicles, etc.)

2. Various mobile phone batteries (such as lithium ion batteries, lithium polymer batteries, etc.)

3. Various small secondary batteries (such as laptop batteries, digital camera batteries, video camera batteries, various cylindrical batteries, wireless communication batteries, portable DVD batteries, CD and MP3 player batteries, etc.)

4. Various primary batteries (such as lithium manganese batteries, etc.)

How UN38.3 develops test standards:

T.1 high simulation test: under the conditions of pressure 11.6 kPa and temperature 205.

T.2 Thermal test: The high and low temperature impact test should be carried out under 722 and -402, the storage time at the extreme temperature is 6h, the high and low temperature transition time is 30 minutes, the impact is 10 times, and the storage time at room temperature (205) is 24h.

T.3 Vibration test: complete 7Hz ~ 200hz reciprocating logarithmic sweep sinusoidal vibration within 15 minutes, and complete 12 three-dimensional vibrations within 3 hours.

The logarithmic sweep is: for cells and small batteries, maintain a maximum acceleration of 1gn from 7 Hz until the frequency reaches 18 Hz. Then keep the amplitude at 0.8 mm (total offset 1.6 mm) and increase the frequency until the maximum acceleration reaches 8gn (frequency around 50 Hz). Hold the maximum acceleration at 8gn until the frequency increases to 200 Hz.

Large battery: The maximum acceleration is maintained at 1gn from 7 Hz until the frequency reaches 18 Hz. Then keep the amplitude at 0.8 mm (total offset 1.6 mm) and increase the frequency until the maximum acceleration reaches 2gn (frequency is about 25 Hz). Keep the max acceleration at 2gn until the frequency increases to 200hz.

T.4 shock test: 150g, 6ms or 50g, 11ms half-sine shock, 3 times for each mounting direction, 18 times in total

T.5 External short circuit test: 552, external resistance. for reference.
